Has your camper completed 5th, 6th, or 7th grade? Are they interested in horse camp? Due to popular demand, we are adding an extra session of Horsin’ Around to June 12-17. This session will occur in addition to the already scheduled Outpost Lab and Saddle ‘Em Up sessions on the rustic side that week. This spring and summer, there are lots of ways to experience DuBois Center, including Fun Sundays. Join us for a meal or bring a picnic lunch. Visit the horses and test drive one in the arena. Walk the labyrinth or enjoy a pontoon boat cruise around the lake. Roast a marshmallow and make a s’more. There will also be orientations for parents and prospective summer camp families. Family-friendly fun for all ages plus special features each month. In April, a Master Naturalist will lead hikes and open our eyes to the magic of spring at DuBois. In May, we will celebrate Pentecost with worship in our new outdoor chapel and Pentecost-themed activities. Click here for more details.

Crafts, nature hikes, dock swims, horseback riding: participate in these and more when teens from your church embark on the Buddy-to-Buddy Mission Experience at DuBois Center. Promote positive peer interactions and new friendships when youth from your church partner with youth from the Hoyleton Children’s Home, and together enjoy a special day camp. Your teens can have a lasting impact on the lives of young people with special needs, while gaining even more in return. Through activities, daily reflections and prayers times, the meaning of “Faith in Action” becomes more than just a vague concept. Enjoy a great week of camp while gaining skills that will help you grow as a positive Christian leader. You’ll learn how to create a fun, safe environment, manage camper behavior and teach basic camp skills. Working with younger campers and your CIT teammates, you’ll gain great practical experience, peek “behind the scenes” at DuBois and develop a sense of community. CIT will function much like a “lab school” with discussion, training, practice and evaluation sessions.

At DuBois Center, a camp counselor is someone who leads campers through fun activities such as canoeing, horseback riding, archery, team building and more! A camp counselor is someone who encourages the faith journeys of children and youth. A camp counselor is someone who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty. A camp counselor is someone who looks out for the safety and well-being of a small group of campers as they discover the great outdoors. Save the Date! Come in out of the cold and get ENERGIZED! This fun, somewhat frenzied dice game is so easy to learn, anyone can play! Last year’s event was wonderfully intergenerational with children, youth and adults of all ages playing and laughing together. St. Paul UCC in Columbia will open its doors at 6:30 pm on Saturday, February 6 for an evening of fun and fellowship to support the ministry of DuBois Center. Play begins at 7 pm. The cost to play is $10 per person. And there’s more! Also featured are two silent auctions, one with gift baskets and other fun items, the other with purses, as well as a 50/50 drawing. Snacks and soda are also available for purchase to support the cause.

What better way to spend Halloween than with your favorite barn pals? Costumes are encouraged for a weekend of horse tricks ‘n treats. Both experienced and novice riders are welcome as we learn more about riding and taking care of our equestrian friends.
The 2015 Fall Horse Retreat will take place from Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 and those ages 12 and older are invited. We will be riding, grooming, tacking, helping with barn chores, creating crafts, and participating in campfires and hayrides… all while experiencing God and creation on the trails, at the barn, in the early morning and at vespers.
Check in will be Friday at 7 p.m. and we will wrap up by Sunday at 4 p.m. Reservation deadline is Friday, Oct. 16. Download the application or download the fall activities brochure for more information
