Thank You Riechmann Bros!

It’s a dream come true! Our NEW tractor arrived on Thursday. The ISC Property Committee has been searching for a “new to us” tractor for the past 18 months – checking in with dealers and local farmers, watching tractor sites online… and praying. A reliable tractor is crucial for our work at DuBois Center. It’s used to move hay, grade roads, mow, haul downed trees and other heavy items, plow snow, give wagon and tram rides, pull vehicles out of the mud and more.  Our 1991 International Harvester served camp well for most of the 27 years we owned it. Recently, though, it had become much less reliable with repairs becoming more critical and more costly.

Thanks to the Riechmann family, DuBois Center is now the proud owner of a new John Deere tractor with a 65 hp engine, front-wheel drive and quick-releases for all the attachments. Not only is it new, it is a significant upgrade. Much of the funding for this project came from the 2017 DuBois on Broadway fundraiser. However, the acquisition would not have been possible without the amazing deal we received from Riechmann Bros LLC and some underwriting from the family.

Bulletin Inserts

There are many ways to help spread the word about DuBois Center and our shared ministry. One is by utilizing bulletin inserts which are periodically included in Weekly Connection or sent directly to churches as print-ready PDF documents. All you need to do is copy, cut and stuff! Three are currently available to promote our upcoming spring and summer programs, as well as volunteer opportunities.

Block Party & Summer Volunteers

Two Just You & Me sessions!

Spend quality one-on-one time with a special child in your life – son, daughter, niece, nephew, godchild… and make memories that last a lifetime. Explore the creek, play on the water mat, create a treasure, ride a horse or canoe together. Make new friends around the dining table and during family game times. Learn more about God’s love during BLAST and Vespers. This program is designed for adults with children age 5-7.

There are two sessions from which to choose: June 9-11 and June 23-25. Last summer, both sessions were full with waiting lists, so don’t delay! Online registration is now open. Brochures are in the mail or can be found online.

LENTEN WORK DAY March 23, RVSP by March 18

Stretch your muscles, get a little dirty and make a difference! Help spruce up the grounds for our busy spring and summer seasons. It’s a great Lenten discipline for you and a wonderful way to get involved and help at DuBois Center. Projects vary, depending on the weather and the skills of the workers – carpentry, cleaning, painting, raking and more. A hearty lunch is provided. Check out and share this flyer.

RSVP by Monday, March 18 to 618-787-2202 or dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org. If the March date doesn’t work for you, there will be another Service Saturday on April 13 – or call to set up a different day for your church or family group!

Nature’s Classroom Instructors are needed for two sessions this spring, plus training. Join us April 9-12 and April 23-26, and work with school groups (grades 5-8) that stay overnight at DuBois Center. VOLUNTEERS are the HEART

Volunteers are the heart of strong and healthy outdoor ministry programs. At DuBois Center, volunteers serve throughout the year on committees and teams, at the barn, in the office, on work projects, as retreat leaders and fund raisers. During the summer, there are a variety of ways to be involved and make a difference in the lives of the young people we serve. Join us for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon, a couple days during the week or a full session of camp. Volunteers work hand in hand with paid summer staff to provide our fun, engaging and faith-filled program.

For more information contact DuBois Center at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202. Volunteer applications are available online.

Why Church Camp?

Because church camp is joyful fun! It is a sacred place. It is intensely relational and positive role models abound! Church camp is an integral part of the year-round faith formation efforts of many congregations. However, it is very different from VBS or Sunday School. Campers and leaders live, work, play and worship together from early morning until late into the evening. They grow together through shared experiences in God’s amazing creation and form an intentional community. They hear our faith stories in new places and new ways, and find opportunities to share their own. The activities are fun, challenging and filled with opportunities to grow as part of a Christian community.
