Horse Camps – Ready to Ride?

Do you love to ride horses? Want to learn more about them and how to care for these beautiful creatures? Consider coming to a Horse Camp at DuBois Center!
Horse Campers spend more time with the ponies, but still have time for other camp favorites like swimming, 9-Square, vespers and crafts. If the weather cooperates, they have the option to ride each day. Some mornings, these horse enthusiasts are up and at ’em long before breakfast to feed, groom and tack the herd. An early morning ride – in the cool of the day – is a great reward for early morning chores! Later in the day, the stalls need to be mucked out. Horse campers take turns, and have fun while learning about the responsibilities of caring for horses.
Younger campers can hop aboard the Pony Express for an introduction to horse camp. Older ones can choose from a variety of sessions.

CAMPS for Younger Children

Children who have completed grades 1-3 are often looking for ways to experience life like the “big kids.” Parents are looking for opportunities for their children to gain self-confidence, critical social skills and a greater awareness of God’s world. At DuBois Center, we have five part-week sessions designed with this in mind. Shorter sessions and smaller group sizes are ideal for this age group. Their time is filled with new adventures under the watchful eyes of caring, safety-conscious leaders.

These shorter sessions include time to ride a horse, explore the creek, swim in the lake and make lots of new friends. This summer choose from Boy Meets Camp, Camp Quest, Discovery Camp or Girl Power. Check out page 8 of the camp brochure online for details or pick one up in your church office. To have information sent by mail, contact DuBois Center at email or 618-787-2202. Ready to register? Click here.

SUMMER JOBS – APPLY NOW!

Is this the year for more than just another summer job?

DuBois Center is searching for fun-loving and child-focused people with a heart for ministry to serve on our summer staff. Amazing memories + resume building skills = a summer to remember! Check out the Summer of Service flyer and consider whether serving outdoors with a dynamic team might be just the opportunity for you. Open positions include barn staff, cabin counselors and coordinators. Lifeguard certification is a plus. Questions? Contact Shirley at email or 618-787-2202. Application packets are available online or can be sent by mail upon request.

Camp Nurses – Servants with Sunscreen

Band-Aids – YES, but so much more!
One setting for ministry at DuBois Center is our health center. Volunteer nurses, most of whom are RNs, are a vital piece of our summer camp program. Serving as a camp nurse can be a very rewarding mission experience, one that is similar yet very different than most traditional nursing positions.
As expected, responsibilities include reviewing camper medical forms, conducting health screenings, receiving & administering medications, providing first aid & basic medical treatment, and documentation. But when you really get down to it, camp nurses spend most of their time removing ticks, soothing rashes, distributing medications and providing extra TLC for homesick and nervous campers.
If you are an RN, please consider serving with us for a full or partial week. The living quarters have AC and there is often time to join us for worship, explore the woods or just sit back and read a book. Contact Shirley at DuBois Center at 618-787-2202 or email if you are interested.

Ready for a FULL WEEK at DuBois Center?

If your child will complete grades 3-5 this spring or summer, then it’s time to step up to Settler! New friends and lots of fun are just the beginning. Campers run, play, sing, eat, jump, act, create, splash, pray, hike, explore, build, ride and finally… sleep!

Growing and playing together, exploring God’s creation, building a Christian community – that’s Settler camp at DuBois Center. Three days just isn’t enough time to explore all that DuBois Center has to offer, so consider these sessions for the next step: June 9-14, June 23-28 and July 7-12.

Check out the camp brochure and register online. For more information or to receive materials by mail, contact the DuBois Center at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202.

Bulletin Inserts

There are many ways to help spread the word about DuBois Center and our shared ministry. One is by utilizing bulletin inserts which are periodically included in Weekly Connection or sent directly to churches as print-ready PDF documents. All you need to do is copy, cut and stuff! Three are currently available to promote our upcoming spring and summer programs, as well as volunteer opportunities.

Two Just You & Me sessions!

Spend quality one-on-one time with a special child in your life – son, daughter, niece, nephew, godchild… and make memories that last a lifetime. Explore the creek, play on the water mat, create a treasure, ride a horse or canoe together. Make new friends around the dining table and during family game times. Learn more about God’s love during BLAST and Vespers. This program is designed for adults with children age 5-7.

There are two sessions from which to choose: June 9-11 and June 23-25. Last summer, both sessions were full with waiting lists, so don’t delay! Online registration is now open. Brochures are in the mail or can be found online.

Brochures are coming!

It’s that time of year again. DuBois Center’s summer camp brochures are HOT off the presses and will be finding their way to your mailboxes and churches soon! If you don’t receive a brochure or packet of brochures by next week, please contact us at 618-787-2202 or dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org, or check out the online flipbook brochure.
