Job Opportunity: Nature’s Classroom Instructor

Are you a substitute teacher, active retiree or someone with a flexible schedule? Do you enjoy the outdoors and have experience working with youth or as a teacher? Nature’s Classroom Instructors are needed from September 25 through October. Work with school groups (grades 5-8) that stay overnight at DuBois Center. Provide a fun and supportive environment, while teaching about predator-prey interactions, night life in the woods, cultural differences, erosion, teamwork and other engaging topics.

Our instructors teach classes, and lead campfires and other evening activities. Parent chaperones supervise free time, dining tables and cabin times. Training is provided, as are meals and overnight accommodations during Nature’s Classroom sessions. Check out the program brochure and position description for details.  Then contact DuBois Center at shirley.director@DuBoisCenter.org  or 618-787-2202.

BLOCK PARTY – Recap

They came… they played… they had a great time! Youth groups from Friedens UCC – Irvington, St. Paul UCC – Belleville, St. Paul UCC – Lebanon and St. Paul UCC – Nashville invaded the Rustic Village for an afternoon of 9-Square, Kickball, Hot Dogs, S’mores and so much more. They made new friends, met some of the horses, painted rocks for a special mission and explored the Rustic Village. One group brought cupcakes to share – which were definitely a hit!

Thanks to the churches that turned out and DuBois Center’s marketing team for making it happen. “Everyone had a wonderful time… It was fun to be able to go with the youth to a non-overnight event!” commented one pastor. Later this week, check out DuBois Center’s Facebook page for more photos of the event.

Camps for Youth – Grades 5 – 9

Our campers that have completed grades 5 – 9 for the 2017 summer season have a variety of choices when it comes to choosing a camp. Whether your camper prefers the Main Camp cottages or the Rustic Village cabins, there are great options throughout the summer on both sides of the lake.
Explore the marvels of God’s creation through a scientific lens or hang out with the ponies. Make a big splash, enjoy a “classic” camp or try roughin’ it. For this age group, individual choice times are a popular addition to the line-up. For details, pick up a 2017 camp brochure in your church office, click here for the online version or contact DuBois Center at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202. To register today, click here. Don’t delay; some sessions are nearly full!
