Camps for Younger Children

Children who have completed grades 1-3 are often looking for ways to experience life like the “big kids.” Parents are looking for opportunities for their children to gain self-confidence, critical social skills, and a greater awareness of God’s world.

At DuBois Center, we have five part-week sessions designed with this in mind. Shorter sessions and smaller group sizes are ideal for this age group. Their time is filled with new adventures under the watchful eyes of caring, safety-conscious leaders. Despite the length of these sessions, there is still time to ride a horse, explore the creek, swim in the lake, and make lots of new friends.

This summer, choose from Boy Meets Camp, Camp Quest, Discovery Camp or Girl Power. Check out page 6 of the camp brochure for details. Summer Camp: Faith, Friends and Fun

Studies show that opportunities for kids to just be kids are critical to their development as healthy and well-rounded children and youth.  Active, unplugged, joyful, connected and adventuresome are all words that describe the DuBois experience. It’s good old-fashioned fun, yet a modern classic. All this as well as an opportunity to experience God and each other in new ways, make new friends and have loads of fun.

Early Bird Deadline in Less Than Two Weeks!

Do you have your 2018 summer camp registration in yet?

All you need to be singing a happy “Early Bird” tune is a completed 2018 Summer Camp Registration Form and $50 non-refundable deposit. Save $20 on full-week sessions and $10 on part-week sessions.

Register and pay online, or postmark your registration form and deposit by April 5. If your church pays part of the camp fee, we will send them an invoice later in the summer.

Spring Service Saturdays

Stretch your muscles, get a little dirty and make a difference! Help spruce up the grounds for our busy spring and summer seasons. We can’t do it without YOU! We’re hosting two spring work days on March 24 and April 21 – we’ll gather at about 8:30 a.m. and work will be completed by 4 p.m.

Projects vary, depending on the weather and the skills of the workers – carpentry, cleaning, painting, raking and more. We may even remove or install a dock. Serve together with friends and family and gain a sense of satisfaction. Lunch is provided. These are the perfect days for adult church groups, families, friends or even individuals!

Wrangle & Ride – April 21

Join our equestrian team on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a full day of fun with the DuBois Center herd! Designed for both beginner and experienced riders, this is a horse-intensive day of grooming, tacking, riding, instruction and other horse-related activities. Beginners will be introduced to basic skills, while experienced riders work on more advanced options.

The cost for this event is $60 with lunch included. Register by March 31 and save $5. Final deadline is April 7 – if space is still available. Dreaming of Spring

As we brave the cold, dark days of winter – even with the beauty of each unique snowflake and crisp starry night – our dreams are filled with visions of a more vibrant and colorful spring.

Bloodwort and Indian Pink are just two of the beautiful wildflowers that thrive at DuBois Center throughout the spring and summer.

Thank You Zoar UCC VBS!

This year, as part of their Campout, Getting S’more of Jesus VBS program, our friends at Zoar UCC collected a wonderful variety of supplies and cash for DuBois Center to use throughout the year. Thanks to them, we now have piles of construction paper and ribbon for crafting, hats and ties for dressing up, beach balls and bandannas for playing, glue sticks and scissors for creating, and even a bag of food for the barn cats.

Amid the boxes and bags that were delivered, a number of backpacks and water bottles were also included. There are always summer campers, many from low-income families, who arrive without these critical items. This gift will help replenish those supplies for next summer.

Schedule a Group Horse Ride

Is your youth group, family ministries program, scout troop or neighborhood playgroup wild about horses? Did you know that groups of six or more can schedule horseback rides at DuBois Center on weekends and mid-week school holidays? Trail rides, with an orientation in the arena, last for one hour and cost $22 per person for day groups. Our Equestrian Team can also provide educational sessions related to badges (and some badge requirements) for all ages and levels of scouts, or “Horse Sense” sessions for non-scouting groups.

Christ UCC Dupo Provides TLC

Cabin doors – check! Cabin screens – check! Cabin steps – check! Recently, a work team from Christ UCC in Dupo spent several days at DuBois Center helping prep the grounds and facilities for summer camp. Most of their time was spent in the Rustic Village. They repaired screen windows and doors, built steps, installed fascia and more. In addition, stumps throughout camp were ground into sawdust.

Volunteers are the heart of DuBois Center and mission is the heart of local congregations. This team is a great example of church mission in action. Now a tradition, this group’s first work experience at DuBois was in 2014 when they joined with an established team from St. Paul UCC in Belleville. They have been back each spring since, and have also taken on segments of the set-up and tear-down for Fall Festival. Please help us in recognizing this great group of workers and the church’s commitment to our shared ministry.
