Camp Nurses — Servants with Sunscreen

Band-Aids – YES, but so much more! One setting for ministry at DuBois Center is our health center. Volunteer nurses, most of whom are RNs, are a vital piece of our summer camp program. Serving as a camp nurse can be a very rewarding mission experience that is similar, yet very different than most traditional nursing positions. Responsibilities include reviewing camper medical forms, conducting health screenings, receiving and administering medications, providing first aid and basic medical treatment, and documentation. But when you really get down to it, nurses spend most of their time removing ticks, soothing rashes, distributing medications and providing extra TLC for homesick and nervous campers.

If you are an RN, please consider serving with us for a full or partial week. The living quarters do have AC, and there is often time to join us for worship, explore the woods or just sit back and read a book. For more information, contact Shirley at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202.

LEAF ATTACK!! Saturday – Dec 7

Looking for a morning and/or afternoon of service and fellowship for your youth, family or fellowship group? Look no further than DuBois Center – your big back yard. It is snowing leaves here, and we could really use your help! On Saturday, we’ll be raking, blowing and burning bushels of leaves.

Arrive and depart when you can. Early birds will start at 8:30. Lunch will be available at noon. We have rakes, but bring gloves and if you have a leaf blower handy – bring it too!

RSVP to dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202. If this day doesn’t work for you – let us know and well explore other options.

Confirmand Power!

It’s amazing what a group of Illinois South Conference confirmands and chaperones can accomplish in just 90 minutes!

The crew attending the ISC Confirmation Retreat took the service aspect of their weekend to heart. Happy horses are now munching on green hay because one team unloaded and stacked 640 bales. The wood shed was also emptied, reorganized and is now ready for winter. And posts and rails were painted for upcoming fencing projects.

Positive attitudes, willing hearts and many hands definitely make the load lighter for all. THANKS for all your hard work!

Volunteers Still Needed for Fall Festival on October 6

Fall Festival, DuBois’ annual fundraiser, can’t happen without YOU!

There are lots of ways to help – serve food or serve as a cashier, catch pontoon boats or walk horses at the arena, drive a tractor or captain a boat, take tickets or sell them, assist with crafts or melt wax for candles, set up before the event or stay and clean up after!

DuBois Center’s annual Fall Festival is powered by the talent, sweat, love and cheer of scores of volunteers. YOU CAN HELP TOO! Time commitments of 2 hours or longer work best.

To volunteer, contact DuBois Center at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202. Send or leave a message with your name, areas of interest, phone number and best times for you to volunteer.

Thank you in advance!

The Green DuBois Team welcomes anyone who is interested in the outdoors.  We have many upcoming projects focused on promoting the biodiversity of DuBois Center, maintaining our forest, and building on our ecologically sustainable practices. We welcome donations to support this work, which can be sent to the Conference office marked for Green DuBois. Anyone can be part of the team, regardless of church affiliation.
