How You Can Promote Fall Festival

DuBois Center’s Annual Fall Festival is just around the corner and your help is needed to spread the word!
Date: Sun, October 7.
Time: 11 am – 5 pm.
There will be food, music, craft booths, hayrides, horses, boat tours, crafts and activities for kids, and more – something for everyone in the whole family!
Here’s what you can do to help promote:
–   Post flyers around your church and community in black and white or color.
–   Make announcements during services and meetings.
–   Put this link to our Fall Festival web page on your web site and in bulletins.
–   Like and Share our Facebook event.
–   Promote the event on your church’s outdoor sign board.
–   Submit information to your local community newspaper or newsletter.
–   Make it a church event! Promote attendance and/or volunteering as a church or church group.
Thanks in advance for your support of DuBois Center and our annual Fall Festival!

FALL WORK DAYS: Saturdays – Oct 6 & Nov 3

Enjoy a fresh fall day amid the tall oaks at DuBois Center! Stretch your muscles! Make a difference! Plan now to gather friends, family or a group from your church for a day of service. Projects vary depending on current needs, the weather and the skills of the volunteers. Our list is growing and already includes painting, cleaning, weeding, raking, cleaning, tree & brush removal and fence work.

On Saturday, Oct 6 we’ll set-up and prep the grounds for Fall Festival. On Saturday, Nov 3, we’ll tackle whatever is left on our list. Click here for a flyer, or for more information contact DuBois Center at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Nature’s Classroom Instructor

DuBois Center is currently interviewing for Nature’s Classroom Instructors. These are seasonal six-week positions from September 17 through October. Enjoy being outdoors and working with young people? Our instructors teach classes, and lead campfires and other evening activities. Parent chaperones supervise free time, dining tables and cabin times.

Training is provided, as are meals and overnight accommodations during Nature’s Classroom sessions. Weekends off. Click here for a program brochure or position description. Contact Shirley at email or 618-787-2202.

Quilts Needed for Fall Festival

Beautiful quilts are an integral part of DuBois Center’s annual Fall Festival. Each year, lovingly crafted treasures are donated for the quilt drawing. Our first quilt of the season has been donated and it’s beautiful! This charming star pattern quilt is twin-sized (66″ x 86″), hand-pieced and quilted. It was created and donated by Sarah Moore, a member at Bethel UCC in Cahokia. This is Sarah’s second Fall Festival quilt.

If you or your group would like to donate a quilt for this year’s drawing, contact Shirley at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202. Ideally, the second quilt would be queen-sized. Thanks for your support!

Calling All Quilters!

For over a decade, a quilt drawing has been a significant piece of the annual DuBois Center Fall Festival. In recent years, we have been blessed to have two or more art quality quilts each year which together have raised $1,500-$2,400 annually. We’re reaching out now to see if anyone is interested in creating and donating a quilt for this years’ event.

The quilts are typically donated by local church quilting groups and other friends of DuBois Center. Specifications include queen-size, appealing to a wide audience and made with love and prayers. Ideally, the quilts begin traveling to local churches in August, so a July completion date works well. If you or your quilting group might be interested in donating a work-of-art quilt for the 2017 Fall Festival, please contact the DuBois Center office at dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org or 618-787-2202. We’d love to talk to you about the possibilities.

Rake and Roast at DuBois

Fall is winding down at DuBois Center, and that means leaves are all over the ground! We could certainly use some help raking them all up and keeping DuBois beautiful.

If you’re looking for an afternoon of service and fellowship for your youth or fellowship group, or even a day with family or friends, come out to DuBois on Nov. 20 to rake the leaves. We promise we’ll let you jump and play in them as well!

We’ll also have the bonfire going, so bring hot dogs and buns to enjoy over the open fire. We’ll provide the roasting forks, condiments, beverages and, best of all, S’MORE FIXIN’S! There are also plenty of rakes already on-site.

You and your group can arrive anywhere between noon and 3 p.m., and depart between 4 and 6 p.m. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect – call 618-787-2202 or email dcinfo@DuBoisCenter.org.
